What is cannabis oil and how does it work

What is cannabis oil?

Cannabis oil, CBD and THC are just two of the many active compounds in cannabis plants. Cannabis oils can also contain a variety of other compounds, including terpenes (aromatic molecules found in plants), flavonoids (compounds that give plants their color and flavor), and other cannabinoids.

The specific composition of any given cannabis oil depends on the plant it was extracted from. For example, oils extracted from hemp plants can contain a lot of CBD, while oil from skunk plants will contain far more THC.

THC produces the high that recreational cannabis users seek, while oils for medical use contain mostly CBD. The different proportions of these compounds in any given oil determine its effects when consumed.

How Cannabis Oil is different from cannabis?

Other forms of cannabis are solid and are usually sold either as resin or dried plant material. In commercially-produced medical cannabis oils,

the concentrations of CBD and THC tend to be well-controlled, which makes it easy to calculate doses. However, because DIY cannabis oils can vary widely in potency,

it’s important to take extra care when measuring out your doses. Start with a low dose and increase slowly as needed until you find the desired effect.

Does it work as a medicine?

CBD has shown to be effective in treating seizures in both children and adults. In fact, CBD is now being used to treat two severe forms of childhood epilepsy known as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

CBD works by reducing the frequency and severity of seizures, as well as by reducing the risk of further seizure activity.

CBD is generally considered safe, but some trials have reported side effects including dry mouth, lightheadedness and altered liver enzyme activity.

However, these side effects are typically mild and well tolerated by most people.

If you or someone you know is living with epilepsy, talk to your doctor about whether CBD may be right for you. CBD is a safe and effective treatment option for many people with epilepsy, and it may help you achieve better seizure control.

Don’t we already have cannabis-based drugs?

Cannabis-based drugs are already available in Europe, and they have shown promise in treating a variety of conditions. However, these drugs typically contain too much THC to be given to children.

CBD, on the other hand, is non-psychoactive and does not produce the same high as THC. This makes it a much safer option for children, who are more vulnerable to the effects of THC.

In addition, CBD has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of conditions, including epilepsy, anxiety, and inflammation.

A number of companies are already working on developing CBD-based drugs for children. In the UK, GW Pharmaceuticals is currently conducting clinical trials of a CBD-based drug for the treatment of epilepsy.

If these trials are successful, it is possible that CBD-based drugs could be approved for use in the UK within the next few years. This would provide much-needed relief to families who are struggling to treat their children’s conditions.
